From the business perspective, the ability to respond to the challenge of sustainability is directed by understanding it, in this sense, over time, various versions and contrasting interpretations have been given to describe its importance and scope. On this subject, the objective of this work is to review the conceptual changes that sustainability has historically had to frame business behavior and its particular attention. The methodology used was an epistemological study of the historical approaches from the 70s to date in relation to the knowledge of sustainability and its correspondence with sustainable business behaviors. The question that guides the research is: What is the business interpretation of sustainability in relation to its sustainable commitment? The conclusion of the work is that the ideal sustainable concept has been modeled in reality as sustainable, with significant differences in the business approach.
