EVALUACIÓN DEL DESEMPEÑO AMBIENTAL DE LAS UNIDADES DE PRODUCCIÓN CON AGRICULTURA PROTEGIDA

Resumen

La agricultura es el principal usuario de tierra, agua y recursos bióticos en México. En el estado de Zacatecas, México, las principales preocupaciones agroambientales en la agricultura se relacionan con el agua, plaguicidas y erosión de suelos. En este trabajo se identifica el nivel de sustentabilidad ambiental de las unidades de producción bajo agricultura protegida en Zacatecas, así como la percepción de los productores sobre los motivadores y barreras para la adopción de un sistema de gestión ambiental. La información se obtuvo de entrevistas y aplicación de un cuestionario a productores o técnicos de unidades de producción. El índice de desempeño ambiental (IDA) de la unidad de producción agrícola fue determinado. El IDA muestra que aún falta mucho por mejorar para lograr un sector con mayor sustentabilidad ambiental. Esto se hace más evidente en prácticas relativas al manejo del agua y el establecimiento de estrategias formales de protección al ambiente.
